Matt Kemp Hits For The Cycle

You've all heard about about it by now.   I'm sure most of you have already seen the video of Matt Kemp and the spontaneous outpouring of empathy, generosity and love between himself and an ailing boy this past weekend in San Francisco.

It was not a planned event done for the cameras, but someone caught it on video, and lucky for the rest of us, it was posted and it's now gone viral.

Up to this point, it's probably been Matt Kemp's most difficult season, and his Dodgers are at one of the lowest depths they've endured since he became a member of the squad.   Yet after being swept by our rivals to the north, standing in a stadium hostile to the Dodgers and especially toward him...Matt shook all of that off.  He forgot about his personal frustrations and pain because as he said, "Life is so much bigger than baseball.”

Many have stated, and I agree, that as a father, I cannot imagine what I would feel if my son were diagnosed with only 90 days to live.   However, what I can imagine are the tears of joy that I wouldn't be able to hold back because a multi-million dollar, bone-fide baseball superstar took time out of his busy day to greet my son in a genuine and sincere moment.

Kemp didn't just greet the kid, and bounce off on his way, flipping a signed baseball over his shoulder.   Not the Bison.  He gave much more than his time.  He gave that kid and his family a memory to last an eternity.

In a moment of unselfishness and selflessness, he gave the shirt off his back and the shoes off his feet.  In doing so, Kemp also gave a piece of his heart.

The Bison came up when it mattered most - and HE CRUSHED IT!

Atta boy, Matty!  A little bitta Beast Mode goes a loooooooong way!
